As of today North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and Bendre Nagara Sarige operate their intercity bus services for city of Hubli. While NWKRTC operates intercity bus service that connects Hubli to almost all the leading cities/towns of Karnataka including Dharwad city, Bendre Nagara Sarige on other hand operates intercity bus that connects Hubli only to Dharwad city.

NWKRTC buses are clad in various colors but ‘NWKRTC’ is clearly written on all the buses and is hence easily identifiable. Bendre Nagara Sarige buses on other hand are completely clad in red color.

Railways in Hubli

Hubli Railway Station is the headquarters of South Western Railway Zone, which encompasses of Karnataka, Tamil Naidu, Goa and Maharashtra. This invariably means that Hubli is connected to all the leading cities of these states via railway.

Each day more than 100 long distance trains halt at Hubli Railway Station that connects Hubli to all the above mentioned states. Besides, today Hubli Railway Station is also amongst the state-of-the-art railway stations of India. This is all thanks to years of renovation work which was eventually completed in 2012.

Hubli doesn’t have any local train service. All local transpiration burden is taken over by auto rickshaw and inter-city bus service.

Airways in Hubli

Hubli does have a domestic airport, but the airport as of today is very small and also lacks many advanced aviation technologies. Nonetheless, many leading airlines operate their flights services from Hubli, connecting it to many important cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Hubli Airport is located in popular Gokul Road area.

Hubli Airport is set to witness major renovation and expansion work in coming years. Airport Authority of India (AAI) has already approved the plan.

Future Ambitious Transport Projects

Currently, two ambitious transport projects are under construction, which are surely going to propel Hubli to greater economic heights. These are Hubli - Dharwad BRTS corridor and Monorail project. Hubli - Dharwad BRTS corridor is a dedicated 22.25 km long corridor on which only Hubli - Dharwad intercity buses will ply, eventually reducing time travel between these two twin cities. The major portion of this project is already completed and should be made open to public pretty soon.

As for Hubli monorail project is concerned, then it is first of its kind in entire south India; though actual construction of this ambitious project is yet to begin.
