Attiveri Bird Sanctuary situated at a distance of around 43 km from Hubli-Dhawad is surrounded by dense forest and sees around 79 species of colorful birds flocking around from as many as 22 countries. Rare species of chirpy feathered friends including the Black-headed Ibis, White throated Kingfishers, Pied, Rose-ringed Parakeet, Green Bee-eater, Indian Grey Hornbill, Grey Francolin, Southern Grey Shrike, Darter, Intermediate Egret, Great Egret, Cattle Egret, Little Egret, Little Cormorants, Barn Swallow, Indian Pond Heron, Brown Shrike, Bay-backed Shrike, and Eurasian Spoonbill may be seen here.

The sanctuary is spread across 2.23 sq km in and around the Attiveri reservoir that came into being with the construction of a dam on Tayawwanahalla in Attiveri village. It was built around 2 decades back, in the year 1994 and has been a popular tourist spot since then.
Visitors are not only attracted to the place because of the tweeting birds that are found here but also because it is a perfect place to be one with the nature. The aura here is enchanting and serene. The farmlands located near the reservoir have a wide variety of insects that serve as food for the aquatic birds found here.
